Strauss Meadow Reserve Veal/Strauss Free Raised Veal revives the tradition of pasture raised veal, an art that inspired the Strauss family’s search for more historically authentic breeds to replace cast-off Holstein dairy bull calves used for veal today. That search led to an ancient breed that roamed Europe’s grasslands literally thousands of years ago in what is now the central region of France. The famed Limousin breed.
Renown for their taste, tenderness and superior quality, the Limousin breed, the source of some of the most sought after veal served in Europe today.
This unique and ideal breed prompted Strauss Brands to enter into a first of its kind partnership with the North American Limousin Foundation to develop historically authentic, pasture-raised veal, born and raised in the USA.
Strauss Meadow Reserve Veal/Strauss Free Raised Veal calves come from various regions of the United States and seasonally follow the natural growth of grass pastures. Strauss Brands is unique in managing a 52-week supply of pasture raised calves provided solely from our nation’s family farms and ranches.
Our calves are constantly monitored by third-party audits, affidavits and electronic ear tags, to ensure compliance and traceability; providing a completely transparent system with confidence and assurance.
